The Moon Lab: Workshops

Welcome to The Moon Lab…

What’s behind the name? The moon is a symbol that represents our emotions, dreams and the unconscious mind (or, as we say in gestalt, things out of awareness). However, what we experience on the surface doesn’t always reflect what’s going on underneath, the vast depths of our potential.

I run a variety of online (and sometimes, in-person) workshops throughout the year, usually themed around dreams, lucid dreaming, mindfulness, journalling or poetry therapy.

In addition to being a gestalt psychotherapist, I’m also a qualified mindfulness teacher and undergoing the final stages of accreditation to become a Certified Poetry Therapist (CPT).

I’m fully insured and a student member operating under the governing body of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) for gestalt psychotherapy. I also adhere to the guidance from the Mindfulness Association (mindfulness) and the International Federation of Biblio Poetry Therapy and Lapidus (poetry therapy).

Unfortunately, I cannot currently offer these workshops to psychotherapy clients I am actively working with, due to professional boundaries and the ethical framework I adhere to.

Poetry Therapy

For those who love to write, or simply for anyone who feels drawn to journaling or creative writing for self-growth, I host writing for wellbeing workshops. Using various forms, including poetry, as a way to tune in and use the page to explore, process and heal your inner world.

Dream Work

Either working on a 1:1 basis or within a workshop setting, learn how to use your dreams for self-growth. I teach ways to use lucid dreaming, and different sleep states, to support and improve your wellbeing. The lucid state is a refined and powerful state of consciousness you can harness while you sleep.

Mindfulness

I offer 1:1, group + corporate mindfulness sessions. Mindfulness is a compelling approach for reducing stress, anxiety, anger, substance abuse and trauma. Research shows that meditation results in significant physical and mental health benefits after as little as eight weeks of daily practice.

When The Night Speaks, hosted by Poetry Pharmacy

Monday 8th December, 6pm – 8pm (£30) Online

Between Sleep and Sky: Making Friends with Your Dreams Through Poetry

Dreams arrive each night – mysterious, strange, sometimes unsettling, always rich with meaning. In this workshop we’ll explore how poetry can become a bridge between the dream world and waking life. Using creative prompts, writing exercises and gestalt-inspired ‘poetry therapy’ approaches, we’ll discover how poetry can help us listen to, honour and integrate our dreams. No previous writing experience is needed. Bring your curiosity, your notebook or dream journal, and a willingness to explore the creative potential of your night world.

Experience a taster of a poetry therapy session, themed around dream work…

o Explore new ways to recall your dreams

o Make friends with your dreaming world

o Discover the therapeutic benefits of turning dreams into poems

o Learn how to transform dream images into poetry or prose

o Practise writing exercises that support self-awareness and creativity

o Discover how dreamwork and poetry can support wellbeing, balance and wholeness

What We’ll Cover
Using a mixture of didactic learning, writing exercises and discussions…

  • Dream Journaling: tips for remembering and recording dreams
  • Making Friends With Dreams: gestalt-inspired ways of meeting dream figures
  • Poetry as Integration: turning dream images into short poems or love letters
  • Dream Characters & Dialogue: writing from different perspectives
  • Liminal Dreaming: using the threshold states of sleep for creativity
  • Dream Incubation: setting an intention for tonight’s dream.
  • You don’t need to be a poet – this workshop is more about expression, not literary accomplishment. In fact, the ‘poetry therapy’ stance offered in this workshop offers you the opportunity to explore more about yourself and processing your experiences from a self-growth point of view
Though if you are also a writer or poet, many participants do come away with inspiration for their creative projects.
  • Sharing your writing or experiences with the group is optional
  • The workshop is designed to be safe, supportive and confidential.

Pre-Workshop Invitation: Keep a dream journal (if you don’t already). Record your dreams in the days or weeks leading up to the workshop. Just a few sentences with the key outline: setting, dream characters, a couple of sentences about what happens and how you felt in the dream is enough. Please bring your dream journal with you. (Sharing your dreams is always optional.)

Winter Solstice

3-5 pm, 21 December 2025 (£30) Online

Winter solstice 2025 takes place at 3.03pm on 21st December, as does this writing for wellbeing workshop. Join me as we explore the winter solstice and all its gifts together…

Workshop Goal

Harness winter and tap into the still and wild beauty of winter, embracing the darkness and slowing down. Find meaning with winter poetry: Engaging in poetry by reflecting, listening and taking part in short poetry exercises and prompts. Understanding where we are in winter, harnessing and working with winter, cultivating acceptance, creating aspirations, hopes and gentle and goals to see you through the rest of the season.

Things you won’t need to do….

o There are no rules in writing for wellbeing…
o You don’t need to have any writing experience whatsoever
o Just an interest in exploring texts and using writing as a way to explore self
o In fact, poetry therapy is not about creating a fine piece of literature or a poem – (though many people find they are left with a piece of writing they would like to develop further)
o It’s not compulsory for you to share your work with the rest of the group, though people can find connection that way and tend to gain more insights when they do
o You don’t need to prepare for the session
o You can say as much or as little as you like in the group, though it is encouraged for you to keep your camera on.

After the Clock Strikes

3-5 pm, 3 January 2026 (£30) Online

Workshop Goal

Zoom Workshop Goal: Reflecting and Rebirthing: Examining the highs and lows of 2025, ways we’ve grown or adapted, things we’ve learnt. Looking at poems of re-birth, reflection, change, courage and bravery. Participants will create, not New Year’s resolutions, but sankalpas (a more affirming and yogic approach to goal-setting) for 2026 by using prompts from poems.
Exploring what we will do with our “one wild and precious life” in 2026.

A Love Letter to Self

3-5 pm, 15 February 2026 (£30) Online

A radical act of self-love over Valentine’s weekend…

In this two hour Zoom workshop, together we will use poetry and writing prompts to fully understand the concept of self-compassion and the ways in which we sometimes judge ourselves unknowingly. We’ll also write an ode to our unloved or disowned parts.

Exploring the barriers that might sometimes prevent self-compassion and identifying opportunities for change and new ways of being we might consider.

All while learning how to ‘tango’ with that inner critic and enhance how we feel about ourselves through compassion-based meditations, discussions and writing prompts.
